We have found that pricing is one of the toughest parts of this business because there are so many variables. The source of the material may be handwritten, typewritten, or taped dication. Handwritten material may be more difficult to read, thus slowing down the typing process. Taped dication may be too slow, too fast, too low, or have background noises, making it more difficult to transcribe. The author may not use proper grammar, thus increasing the time to restructure sentences.

So, at Figure of Speech, we try to make it as simple as possible!

In order to make things simple, we charge one hourly rate for most of our services. In cases where we have established a working relationship with the client and the work is consistent, other pricing methods may be used. Transcription may by priced per line, page, or tape. Database entry may be priced by the field or record. Flyers, postcards, brochures, and newsletters are usually priced by the hour for the initial setup, and by the piece for printing quantities. Graphic intensive documents are priced on an individual basis.

We accept source material in any format.

Source material must be clearly legible. Illegible source material will be charged by the hour only, if able to be completed. Client will be notified of any problems with material before the work is done.


Database Management
Hourly Rate: $20.00

May include setting up and entering a database of information, such as names, addresses, phone numbers, employees, salaries, sales information, etc. This information may be used for generating mail lists, labels, letter/merge files or reports. We utilize most popular database applications such as Microsoft Access, Word, and Corel WordPerfect.

After the initial setup, most database entries may be priced at $.15 per name and address record (name, company, address). More detailed records that contain more fields for sorting, usually for generating labels and/or merged letters, would consist of the following fields: Title (Honorific), First_Name, Last_Name, Company, Address1, Address2, City, State, ZIP_Code. These entries would be priced at $.25 per record.


Desktop Publishing
Hourly Rate: $20.00

May include brochures, charts, flyers, or newsletters. Most of these items may be priced by the piece after the initial setup and design.

Color Flyers: Flyers printed on specialty paper. Graphics may include border, lines, bullets, photos, logos, two-color text, and colored highlighting, if desired.

Quantities of 1 to 50 - $.50 per page, plus one hour setup fee. Each additional page is $.40 per page.

Graphic intensive Flyers will be charged on an individual basis.

Black & White Flyers : Quantities of 1 to 50 - $.35 per page, plus one hour setup fee. Each additional page is $.25 per page.


Spreadsheets
Hourly Rate: $20.00

May include charts, graphs, formulas for column and row calculations, and tables.


Transcription
Standard or micro cassette tape. This may include recorded conference calls, interviews, lectures, meeting minutes, standard letters and correspondence, or weekly/monthly reports.

Correspondence, interviews, and weekly/monthly reports :
Using Courier font or equivalent (65 characters per line), single-spaced - $3.50 per page. Price includes printing one original. Extra copies are an additional $.10 per page.

Using Times New Roman 12 (90 characters per line), we charge $4.50 per page.

Volume discounts will be given for daily or weekly transcription (minimum 25 pages per week)

Casual conversation, lectures, meetings, and/or seminars: $20.00 per hour.

This type of transcription cannot be priced by the page since it is usually not organized dictation using a standard format. There are too many variables when transcribing tapes authored by more than one person. Speakers tend to jump from one topic to another, tell stories, interrupt one another, etc; however, moderated calls or meetings using a structured format may be priced by the page.


Word Processing and Typing Services
Hourly Rate : $20.00

May include correspondence, letters, proposals, manuals, manuscripts, technical documents, resumes, or weekly/monthly reports. This would also include documents that may require font changes, formatting, mail merge, outlines, styles, typesetting, charts, graphics, or tables.


Presentation Design
Hourly Rate : $20.00

May include graphics, animation, design layout, etc. Available in Corel Presentations and Microsoft PowerPoint (PowerPoint viewer included in delivery). Product delivered via email, on diskette or ZIP disk, or printed transparencies. (Additional fee for disks and transparencies).
